School Lighting Upgrade
Ottawa Electric completed a commercial electrical renovation for Dr. F.J. MacDonald School at 2860 Ahearn Avenue in Ottawa.
Working with Laplante Builders, the project included a full-building lighting and life-safety upgrade. Ottawa Electric removed, replaced, and relocated 320 light fixtures across the school as part of a full LED lighting upgrade.
The scope also included a new lighting control system with occupancy sensors, dimming, scene controls, and low-voltage controls. Ottawa Electric upgraded emergency lighting coverage, added extra emergency lighting, relocated fire alarm units, and completed the required ESA permits, inspections, fire alarm verification/testing, and emergency lighting testing.
Dr. F.J. MacDonald School needed a full electrical lighting upgrade to improve visibility, energy efficiency, lighting control, and emergency system coverage throughout the building.
The existing lighting system needed to be removed, replaced, and relocated across the full school. The project also required upgraded controls, better emergency lighting coverage, and relocation of fire alarm units to support the renovated layout.
Because the work took place in a school environment, the project had to be completed during the summer break within a tight July 1 to August 31 schedule.
